Synergistic Surface_02_100907
This is our first step in exploring the idea of the surface responding to a trigger.

We realised that the contraction of the flexinol is much more noticeable (more than 10%) when
we directly connect the piano wire to the battery (no circuit inbetween).
The objective of our prototype was to amplify the relatively small movement of the flexinol
to a more dramatic response of the model.
Our prototype worked, but it turned out that the current was too strong for the flexinol wire,
which broke after a couple of trials. We obviously need more and thicker flexinol wire for our future tests.
Our next two steps are the following:
-the use of leds that will be activated at the same
time that the surface opening is triggered
-find a way to have more than one opening
affected by the flexinol wire contraction
